Tatsächlich ist das Wort aus dem Französischen Mariolette (Figürchen), mariole, die Figur, abgeleitet.
Der Oberbegriff ist Puppe, eine an Fäden aufgehängte sogenannte Gliederpuppe, so, wie Pinocchio.
Der die Fäden zieht bestimmt die Bewegungen, das scheinbare Überbrücken der Schwerelosigkeit.

Der Gedanke Pinocchio echtes Leben einzuhauchen klingt wie der Versuch sich von den Fäden, die das eigene Geschick bestimmen, zu befreien, einen eigenen Weg zu gehen.
Vielleicht sollte man sich auch realisieren, dass man die einem bestimmenden Fäden auch durchschneiden kann,
oder,
man zu lernen vermag, die eigenen Fäden zu ziehen.
